The California Inclusion and Behavior Consultation (CIBC) Network is a professional development project funded by the California Department of Education (CDE), Child Development Division (CDD) and is coordinated by the WestEd Center for Prevention and Early Intervention (CPEI). The CIBC Network is designed to respond to requests for technical assistance from administrators and teachers in early care and education programs.
A network of experienced, local consultants provides on-site consultation to build the capacity of the programs and providers to respond effectively to children with special needs or challenging behaviors. Consultants have knowledge of relationship-based practices and community resources and are skilled in problem-solving issues around inclusion and challenging behaviors.
Consultants meet with staff, observe the environment, facilitate the development of action plans and support site implementation of those plans.
The priority recipients of technical assistance are CDE-CDD contracted early care and education programs throughout California. There is no cost to the site for this consultation.
Site administrators, preschool teachers and child care providers may submit their requests for technical assistance online, and CIBC staff will contact them to discuss their needs.
